I love camping but I have never been to Arkansas. It is fun to learn about the places other people love and call home. Best of luck to you and the blog!

Hello Will - I can't say that we've experienced much of a problem while camping on the river, although we did get a visit from a couple of locals one afternoon, that I believe had had just a bit too much of the "sauce" that day. They meant no harm, but we finally had to ask them to leave, which they eventually did.
By the same token, we've had locals come by that were as nice as they could be and would do anything for you.
I think that in a rural setting like that, you're just going to have some folks that believe that you're on "their" river. They may not cause you any real trouble, but they may not be the most friendly either. Sounds like you handled the situation well. I'd have been a little worried myself if someone came crunching through the gravel late at night!
Kinda reminds me of another story I'll have to post about when a "hog" decided to come into our camp one night! Funny but a little scary at the time!
Good luck with things Will and please tell a friend about our site. Thanks!

Anybody ever have any problems with locals? I was up there last weekend camping on the bank between Pruitt and Carver. At around 11:00pm , I heard some footsteps of some people tromping through our campsite. I flashed my light towards the river and a man in overalls, rubber boots and a little fishing cap and not so many teeth came up to me. As he walking up, all I could think about where those damn banjos and was a little nervous. When he finally reached me he asked "wheeeerrreee youuuuu fruuuuuum"? I tried to be polite and answer all his questions, he was very short with me and seemed to be talking down to me, like I am just in his way. It was a little scary. Nothing really bad happened that night, he didnt take anything and all he was doing was some night fishing, but he was incredibly rude and tromping throught our campground like it was'nt even there. Is this common on the Buffalo or was I just unlucky? The experiance made me feel pretty uncomfortable.

But this experiance has not taken away my love for the river, I was just wondering if some places where better than others in terms of camping so to avoid this from happening again?
